Profile of Mark Hongenaert
Human behaviour has always fascinated me. My training as a psychologist
taught me what moves people, what makes them do what they do.
After four years of research at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium)
and five years in the HR department of a large bank, I entered the field of
Organizational Development as an internal consultant within that same bank.
This experience at the bank showed me how the context people are working in
has a strong impact on their behaviour and their feelings: strategy, objectives,
work processes, responsibilities, rules for collaboration within and between
groups, reward systems, ...
In order to work with people it is essential to have a good understanding of
the context they are living and working in.
This is what I do: together with my clients find out what change is needed and
why; advice them on the implementation of change and coach them; help people to
better understand the dynamics that develop within and between groups.
In doing this, I always combine two perspectives: the harder aspect of the
organization and the vivid human dynamics.
In 2000 I exchanged the stability of the bank for the adventurous life as an
independent organisational consultant. This clearly gave me a broader view
on organizations in all their diversity.
I still work in the financial world, but I'm also active in other domains,
such as distribution, logistics, pharmacy, governmental and non governmental
organizations.
A training that has contributed well to my personal and professional development,
is the "International Professional Development Programme, Leading Meaningful
Change" (www.pro-dev.eu)
I work in Dutch, French and English.
